Strengthening Democracy Through Inclusive Stakeholder Engagement in Nairobi County
Apr 8, 2026
Today, I had the privilege of engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders at the Nairobi IEBC County Office, drawn from all 17 constituencies. The meeting brought together representatives of women, youth, persons with disabilities (PWDs), faith-based organizations (FBOs), community-based organizations (CBOs), civil society organizations (CSOs), heads of government departments, and other key partners in our democratic process.
This forum provided an important platform for open and inclusive dialogue, where we exchanged ideas, listened to different perspectives, and collectively reflected on how to strengthen our electoral processes.
I wish to emphasize that stakeholders, civil society, and community mobilizers play a vital role in deepening our democracy. Every voice matters—whether from our young people, persons with disabilities, or community leaders. Your contributions are not only recognized but are essential in shaping a more inclusive and credible electoral system.
To our young people, I urge you to step forward and take your place in leadership and civic participation. *This is your time, your generation, your opportunity to make a difference for your country.* Past engagements have shown us that when citizens actively participate, we can transform outcomes and build stronger institutions.
As a Commission, we remain committed to working in partnership with all stakeholders. Delivering free, fair, transparent, and inclusive elections is a shared responsibility—it is not the work of IEBC alone, but of every Kenyan.
I also encourage continued engagement, feedback, and collaboration as we move forward. Together, we can ensure that the next General Election is credible, inclusive, and reflective of the will of the people.
I commend the Nairobi County Election Manager, Mr. Albert Gogo, for his insightful presentation on the electoral process, and for highlighting the importance of public participation at every stage of the election cycle.
I further call upon all stakeholders to support the ongoing Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) by mobilizing communities and encouraging all eligible citizens to register. Your efforts will be key in ensuring that no voice is left behind.
